Hilti PROFIS Engineering Software

Six Years of Innovation for Engineers

At Hilti, helping our customers and their clients is something we always strive to do. While many of you benefit from the features on our tools and hardware, we’ve also been busy making continuous improvements on PROFIS, our engineering structural design software.

2019 saw the release of PROFIS Engineering in Northern Europe. This proved to be a ‘game changer’ in software for engineers designing structural connections - from steel to concrete, to concrete to concrete - offering many features to increase designers’ productivity and covering end to end workflows. This helped to ensure state of the art calculations and reliable solutions based on the latest codes and approvals – a big factor in many projects.

Here are some of the updates we’ve developed along the way, see how many you think are good for your jobs…

DX 5 F8, DX 5 F8, deflection head, track fastening to ceiling, interior finishing, X-U concrete nail

a new beginning

2019 – Concrete module

This helps users design complex and day-to-day structural baseplate connections. Includes the option to use preset templates to design concrete fixings including post-installed and cast-in-place anchors, baseplates, welds and stiffeners quickly and accurately.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2019 – CBFEM in concrete module

With just a click, this helps users analyse baseplates using CBFEM and perform rigidity checks to determine whether to adapt the design or the loads. Crucially for you, it allows you to optimise fixture points and perform stress and strain checks.

Available in Premium (Paid) version only

additional applications

2020 – Handrail module

We all need stability don’t we? The Handrail module helps to design complete connections for platforms, balconies and staircases. It can help in determining the loads acting on the handrail depending on how it's being used, wind conditions and more. Stability checks are also performed on the solution for the best results.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2020 – Masonry Module

Lets you select from multiple sizes and types of brick or concrete masonry units, adjust their layout and define whether grout is present to do calculations into masonry. You can combine on-site data with factors such as allowable tension and shear loads while considering load reductions and geometry requirements to design accurate baseplate connections using masonry-approved anchors.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2022 – Cast in fixings

This allows users to choose between threaded rods, headed-bolts, or headed-studs and design them according to EN 1992-4 and ACI. Then, as part of the process, check the complete baseplate rigidity as a standard user. Premium users could also use CBFEM analysis to optimise the entire connection.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

Structural Strengthening

2023 – Post installed rebar

Add or extend concrete elements whether you're working with existing rebar or missing starter bars. Solve concrete structural joints and splices, and then verify the shear resistance at the interface between the old and new concrete.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2023 – Overlays

Helps to dimension post-installed shear connectors and verify the interface between the concrete cast at different times. Establish whether your design has edges or is symmetric and then define different areas of acting shear.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2025 – Concrete strengthening – Shear

Suitably assessed and granted a general construction technique permit (aBG) as a system by DIBt, you can use a familiar Eurocode 2-based design approach integrated into PROFIS to arrive at a feasible shear reinforcement solution by adjusting the key design parameters of reinforcement diameter and spacing and the variable strut angle.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

CAST-IN CHANNELS

2025 – Anchor Channel design

Design anchor channels for various applications such as elevators, data centres or tunnels using cast in solutions under multiple design regulations.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

2025 – Façade module

Design cast-in and post-installed fastenings for façades with certified products according to the latest regulations (including ACI and Eurocode). This feature allows you to switch between the two fastening technologies in a few clicks. In addition, you can find the controlling design quicker with automatic calculation of tolerances, slotted holes and multiple load combinations.

Available in both Standard (FOC) and Premium (Paid) versions

ONE STEP AHEAD

2024 – Smart design for anchoring to concrete

Our PROFIS Smart Design feature rapidly analyses factors such as loads, profile geometry, base material strength and geometry, and last anchor type to help give you the best, most efficient solution by reducing baseplate area or embedment depth. Helps with costs on the job.

Available in Premium (Paid) version only

2025 – Checkbot plug in for improved workflows

PROFIS Engineering is integrated with the IDEA Statica Checkbot structural design hub. This gives you simpler, faster and more transparent design and calculation workflows in simple steps to increase your productivity.

Available in Premium (Paid) version only.

We’re always looking to help, with training and support for everyone

The features we’ve mentioned here have added value and efficiency for a number of our customers. But what’s even better, is that we offer technical training and demonstrations to ensure you get the best out of these features and more. These are available both online and in-person for anyone who wants to take advantage and get more out of PROFIS.

While in-software training and tips are also available to users, what’s even better is that some of these features were, and still are, available to users using the free version, helping to add further value for users and their projects.

As with any build, precision, safety and peace of mind are big factors in getting a project over the line. But with these developments, and more to come in the future, you can be guaranteed that PROFIS can add value to your projects.
